Privacy policy
Version 1.1 · 2026-10-25
In short: the app collects nothing about you, and the server forgets your IP address within about a minute. Details follow.
1.Who is responsible for your data
1.1. Pacelense is made by one person, not a company. The author is Iurii Korytko, a private individual residing in Bulgaria. The author is responsible for the personal data described in this policy and is its controller within the meaning of the GDPR.
1.2. Send questions about data to privacy@pacelense.app; the author reads emails to this address personally.
1.3. The author processes only the IP address your browser or the app connects from, your emails, and what you write on Discord or leave with a donation.
2.What the app sends
2.1. The app collects no telemetry, usage statistics or crash reports and sends no installation or device identifiers. The app has no accounts and no sign-in.
2.2. The app connects to the author's update server to check whether a new version is available and what has changed in it. The request contains the app's name and version, the operating system (Windows) and its architecture, and the version of the update library. It contains no information about you. How the server handles your IP address is described in section 3 “Website and server”.
2.3. The app connects to Twitch only if you turn on the Twitch chat widget and enter a channel, so that the widget can show that channel's messages. The app reads the chat anonymously, without signing in to a Twitch account. It only shows the chat messages on your screen and does not save them or send them anywhere. The widget loads the emotes in messages from Twitch and from the emote services BetterTTV, 7TV and FrankerFaceZ. Twitch, BetterTTV, 7TV and FrankerFaceZ are third-party services with their own privacy policies: they see your IP address and the channel you entered. The author of the app does not receive this data. Apart from the update server (clause 2.2) and these services, the app does not connect anywhere.
2.4. A new version is downloaded and installed only when you decide to.
3.Website and server
3.1. The website uses no cookies, runs no analytics and loads no resources from other websites. For this reason, it does not ask for cookie consent.
3.2. The server receives your IP address with every request from the website or the app and uses it only to respond to that request. To protect the server from overload, it keeps a count of requests from each address in memory for about one minute; this data is never written to disk. No access logs are kept.
3.3. The server stores only the daily number of downloads of the installer and of each version's updates, without addresses or any other data that could identify a person.
3.4. The legal basis is the author's legitimate interest in keeping the website and updates running and available.
3.5. The app's installer is downloaded from GitHub, a service operated by another company under its own privacy policy. The app receives updates only from the author's server.
4.Data on your computer
Settings and data that the app keeps between runs are stored in the
%AppData%\Pacelensefolder on your computer. The app itself, its updates and the update log are stored in%LocalAppData%. This data does not leave your computer, except for the channel you entered in the Twitch chat widget (clause 2.3). Uninstalling the app leaves the settings folder in place until you delete it yourself.5.Correspondence
If you write to support@pacelense.app or privacy@pacelense.app, the author keeps your message, your email address and any attachments in order to reply to you. The legal basis is the author's legitimate interest in responding to inquiries.
6.Discord and donations
6.1. The website and the app link to the author's Discord server and to donation pages on Ko-fi and Boosty. These services are operated by other companies under their own privacy policies. What these services show to other people, such as donations, supporters' names and numbers, or messages, depends on their rules and on the settings chosen by you and by the author.
6.2. Messages on the Discord server are visible to its members and to the author; direct messages to the author are visible only to the author. The messages are stored by Discord. The legal basis is the author's legitimate interest in running the community and answering questions.
6.3. If you make a donation, the platform shows the author the information you provided: a name or nickname, the amount and your message, and on some platforms also your email address. The legal basis is the author's legitimate interest in thanking those who support the project.
7.Recipients
The website, the update server and email are hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH in Germany under a data processing agreement. Hetzner does not use this data for its own purposes. The author does not share personal data with, or sell it to, anyone else.
8.Retention
(a) IP address: about one minute, in server memory only;
(b) correspondence: as long as needed to reply and conclude the conversation, and no longer than one year after the last message;
(c) Discord messages: stored by Discord under its own rules;
(d) donation information: stored by the platform under its own rules.
9.Your rights
9.1. Under the GDPR, you have the right to access the data the author holds about you and obtain a copy, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict its processing, and to receive it in a structured, machine-readable format.
9.2. In practice, the author holds only your emails and, if you made a donation, the information described in clause 6.3. On request, the author will send you a copy of them or delete them; donation information can be deleted only as far as the platform allows. IP addresses are kept for only about a minute (section 8 “Retention”), and Discord messages are stored by Discord itself (section 6 “Discord and donations”).
9.3. Send requests to privacy@pacelense.app; the author replies within one month.
10.Right to object
All processing described in this policy is based on the author's legitimate interest. You may object to it at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. The author will then stop processing your data unless the author demonstrates compelling legitimate grounds for it that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the data is needed for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims. The server cannot answer a request without the IP address it comes from, so this processing stops only when no more requests come from your address: neither from your browser when you visit the website, nor from the app when it checks for updates. The author will consider your objection and reply within one month.
11.Complaints
If you believe your data is being processed unlawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection supervisory authority in your country.
12.Changes to this policy
12.1. Each version of this policy has a number and a date.
12.2. Corrections that do not change the substance of this policy, such as typos or clearer wording, are published without separate notice.
12.3. If the app or the website begins to handle data differently, a new version of this policy will be published first.
